Normal Route
Itinerary:
Day 1: Meeting at the hostel, coordination of services, checking participants’ equipment with the guide, and transportation schedules.
Day 2: Transport from Mendoza to Penitentes (2599 m.a.s.l.), followed by a short acclimatization trek.
Day 3: Ascent from Penitentes to the base camp (3450 m.a.s.l.) and camping. 5 to 6 hours of trekking.
Day 4: Ascent from the base camp to the summit of Penitentes (4328 m.a.s.l.) and return to base camp. 6 to 8 hours of trekking.
Day 5: Descent from the base camp to Penitentes and Mendoza. 4 to 5 hours of activity.
Suggested Personal Equipment:
- Sun hat and wool balaclava
- UV-filter sunglasses
- Neck scarf
- Flashlight with spare batteries
- One to two-liter water bottle
- One-liter stainless steel thermos
- Thin gloves and one thick pair, preferably waterproof
- Insulated, crampon-compatible plastic boots or trekking shoes
- Comfortable shoes for the refuge and camps
- Gaiters
- 4 to 5 pairs of warm socks
- Underwear set
- Sports or jogging outfit

Included:
High Mountain Guide:
- One (1) bilingual professional High Mountain Guide.
- The guide’s service is provided from Mendoza and throughout the entire route until returning to the city of Mendoza.
- Guides are equipped with radios and cell phones to communicate with the refuge, Mendoza, or transportation in case of emergencies.
- We ensure that the guide-to-clients ratio does not exceed three clients per guide or assistant, depending on the group, to ensure the group’s well-being.
Hostel in Mendoza:
This option is itemized in the per-person price for participants who do not need or do not want the hostel in Mendoza; it is not included.
- Two nights in a hostel with breakfast included.
- In rooms according to the number of participants, with or without a private bathroom.
Transport:
- From the hostel in the city to Penitentes.
- From Penitentes to the hostel in the city.
Refuge in Penitentes:
- One night – Rooms with a base of 8 people.
- Includes at the refuge: Lunch, Dinner, and Breakfast.
- Meals include juices – No alcoholic beverages.
March Meals:
- Meals for the ascent.
- Included in the pack: 1 Alfajor, 1 Cereal Bar, 1 Chocolate Bar, 2 Juice Sachets, Candies, 2 Sandwiches with bread, cheese, and cold cuts.
- Meals for high-altitude camps, for example: pasta with sauce, primavera rice, mashed potatoes with sausages, etc.
High-Altitude Tents:
- The tents are North Face or similar, with a ratio of two to three people per tent depending on the number of participants, always aiming to carry an appropriate weight in the backpacks.
Personal Accident Insurance:
- Insurance is provided per person and per day of specific mountain or adventure activity.
Safety Equipment:
- In all our activities, guides are equipped with radios, cell phones, a community first-aid kit, ropes, helmets, harnesses, etc. (The various safety elements are specifically for different activities.)
Heaters and Fuel:
- Depending on the number of participants, expeditions may use gas heaters such as Camping Gas or MSR with gasoline, which will be provided with fuel for the entire expedition.

Drinks and Meals:
- Drinks and meals at the hostel in the city of Mendoza.
- Alcoholic beverages at the mountain refuge.
