Normal Route

Itinerary:

1st Day: Meeting at the hostel, coordinating services, checking participants’ equipment with the guide, and reviewing transportation schedules.

2nd Day: Transport from Mendoza to Vallecitos (2880 m.a.s.l.), lunch, and a short acclimatization trek.

3rd Day: Ascent to Piedra Grande (3550 m.a.s.l.) and camping. 4 to 5 hours of trekking.

4th Day: Ascent from Piedra Grande to Salto Base Camp (4119 m.a.s.l.). 4 to 6 hours of trekking.

5th Day: This day is used for rest and acclimatization with short walks around the base camp.

6th Day: Ascent from Salto Camp to the summit of Rincón (5136 m.a.s.l.) and return to Salto Camp – 7 to 9 hours of activity.

7th Day: Descent from Salto Camp to Vallecitos and Mendoza – 4 to 5 hours of activity.

8th Day: Reserved for bad weather or if any participants need additional acclimatization.

 

Suggested Personal Gear:

  • Sun hat and wool balaclava
  • UV-filter sunglasses

  • Headlamp with extra batteries
  • Water bottle (1 to 2 liters)
  • Stainless steel thermos (1 liter)
  • Thin gloves and one pair of thick, preferably waterproof gloves
  • Plastic boots or very warm, crampon-compatible trekking shoes
  • Comfortable shoes for refuge and camps
  • Gaiters
  • 4 to 5 pairs of warm socks
  • Underwear
  • Jogging or sportswear

  • Warm, preferably waterproof jacket

Included:

High Mountain Guide:

  • One (1) bilingual professional High Mountain Guide.
  • The guide’s service is provided from Mendoza and throughout the entire route until returning to the city of Mendoza.
  • Guides are equipped with radios and cell phones to communicate with the refuge, Mendoza, or transportation in case of emergencies.
  • We ensure that the guide-to-clients ratio does not exceed three clients per guide or assistant, depending on the group, to ensure the group’s well-being.

 

Hostel in Mendoza:

This option is itemized in the per-person price for participants who do not need or do not want the hostel in Mendoza; it is not included.

  • Two nights in a hostel with breakfast included.
  • Accommodation in rooms according to the number of participants, with or without a private bathroom.

 

Transportation:

  • From the hostel in the city to Vallecitos.
  • From Vallecitos back to the hostel in the city.

 

Refuge in Vallecitos:

  • One night – Rooms with a base of 8 people.
  • Included at the refuge: Lunch, Dinner, and Breakfast.
  • Meals include juices – No alcoholic beverages.

 

Ascent March Meals:

  • Included in the pack: 1 Alfajor, 1 Cereal Bar, 1 Chocolate Bar, 2 Juice Sachets, Candies, 2 Sandwiches with bread, cheese, and cold cuts.
  • Meals for high-altitude camps, such as: pasta with sauce, primavera rice, mashed potatoes with sausages, etc.

 

High-Altitude Tents:

  • Tents are North Face or similar, with a ratio of two to three people per tent depending on the number of participants, always aiming to carry an appropriate weight in backpacks.

 

Personal Accident Insurance:

  • Insurance is provided per person and per day of specific mountain or adventure activity.

 

Safety Equipment:

  • In all our activities, guides are equipped with radios, cell phones, a community first-aid kit, ropes, helmets, harnesses, etc. (The various safety elements are specifically for different activities).

 

Heaters and Fuel:

  • Depending on the number of participants, expeditions may use gas heaters such as Camping Gas or MSR with gasoline, which will be provided with fuel for the entire expedition.

Not included:

Personal Gear:

  • The suggested personal gear for the activity is not included in the budget.

 

Beverages and Meals:

  • Beverages and meals at the hostel in the city of Mendoza.
  • Alcoholic beverages at the mountain refuge.

 

Extra Costs:

  • Any other expenses not included in the provided services.
  • Extra costs incurred due to abandonment of the program will be solely the responsibility of the participant.
